High tides delay sandbag construction

NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (WWAY) —  High tides are delaying some sand bag construction in North Topsail Beach.

Last week, town leaders said the brand new parking lot at the north end is experiencing “advanced erosion.” This weekend, lots of folks took to Facebook with videos of the high waters at Beach Club and on the north end parking lot.

Town leaders said engineers were supposed to begin putting sandbags in front of the new parking lot Monday weather permitting. Because of the the high tides, construction will have to wait until Wednesday.
