Humpday Health: Beach ready arms

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We’re looking to get your body ready for the upcoming beach season on Humpday Health.
Last week we got things started by focusing on your diet. This week, we look at getting those arms ready to go sleeveless.
Everyone knows the old saying, suns out, guns out. So you want to make sure that you are working your arms.
“When you’re training arms, you want to make sure you workout the biceps and the triceps,” Trainer Kasey Brown said. “You don’t want to overdevelop one muscle group and not develop the other part.”
There are several simple exercises to work your arms. There’s alternating dumb bell curls or standing bar bell curls for your biceps. For the triceps you can try dips or single or double tricep extensions.
Some people have one arm stronger than the other, but it’s important to stay even.
“I would never jump up weight on one side as opposed to the other just because one side is stronger,” Brown said. “I would wait to bring up that weaker muscle group on the weaker arm and get them to be equal.”
It’s important to do slow and controlled movements to really get the best exercise.
“When you move fast, you end up putting more pressure on the joints and not really on the muscle you’re trying to work in the first place.” Brown said.
While working, you should do 3 to 4 sets for each muscle with 3 exercises each.
