HUMPDAY HEALTH: Legs are the base for your whole body
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — When you consider your body, legs are definitely one of the most important areas to workout and focus on.
“Legs are important because they’re your base and you always want to have a solid base,” Trainer Marissa Iwaynlo said. “Obviously everyone wants nice toned legs for the beach.”
Form and balance is crucial when working out your legs. So to work all parts of your legs you can do workouts like hamstring curls, stepups, straight leg deadlifts and leg extensions. But there are some important aspects to consider while you do these workouts.
“You want to keep your back straight in everything you do and you really want to engage your core which is your abs and your back muscles.” Iwanylo said.
How much you workout legs and how many reps depends on what you want to get out of your workout. To get ready for beach season and maybe get rid of unneeded cellulite, you want to tone up.
“If you want to tone up I usually recommend about three to four sets of anything with higher rep ranges around 12-15,” Iwanylo said. “That’s going to help you get endurance which is going to help you tone up the muscle more than build the volume.”
As always, make sure you do the exercises correctly and with the right form to prevent injuries.
