Humpday Health: No gym required
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Summer is right around the corner and soon the kids will be out of school. But having them home doesn’t mean you have to skip your workout.
“A lot of people think that they need to get in an hour, an hour and a half time at the gym to get a good workout, but you can actually squeeze it in in quick ten minute bouts,” said Leslie Talbott the owner of Go Girl Fitness Studio. “A great way to get a good workout in while your child is playing is doing a few minutes of brisk walking and then incorporating some quick strength training exercises.”
The park is a great place for your kids to have fun and for you to break a sweat while still keeping an eye on them.
“Movement in general is really important. Sitting is like the new smoking. So a lot of people think they need to be doing a crazy hard workout seven days a week when really you just have to be consistently moving at a moderate intensity,” Talbott said.
She said variety is the key to any successful workout.
“You do want to make sure that you’re not hitting the same muscle groups everyday. So I recommend doing a workout a day and then taking a break in-between,” Talbott said.
So get up and get moving and you can only take the family with you!
