Large alligator removed from road after lunging at passing drivers in Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An unusual middle of the night call for emergency responders in Brunswick County.
The Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Department helped the sheriff’s office remove an alligator from the middle of the road.
It happened around 1:00 am on River Road.
The fire department said the gator was lying in the middle of the road and would lunge at passing drivers. The fire department says after trying to walk the estimated 12 foot beast across the road failed, they turned on the water to encourage the alligator to retreat.
The ‘gentle shower’ eventually convinced the gator to move back into its habitat.
