Last day to request absentee ballot; Early, one-stop voting still underway
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Early voting is still underway ahead of this year’s election on November 7.
This is a Municipal Election which is held to elect local officials including mayor, alderman, town council, and commissioners. That means not all voters have a ballot this election.
Brunswick County Board of Elections Director Sara LaVere came to the WWAY studios on Monday with some important reminders for voters.
LaVere said they want to encourage all voters to check their voter registration to see if they have a ballot. Click here to check yours. Voters should go to their correct precinct when voting on Election Day in order to receive the correct ballot. By checking their voter registration, they can also see what their home/voting precinct is for this election.
Early Voting is still going on at the Government complex at the Cooperative Extension, Building H, 25 Referendum Drive, Bolivia. Remaining hours this week are Tues – Friday from 8:30am – 5pm and Saturday, November 4th from 8am – 3pm.
LaVere said another important reminder for voters this year is that photo ID is now required for all voters. Voters who do not provide a photo ID will still have the opportunity to vote a Provisional ballot. No voter will be turned away because they do not have an ID. Click here for more information on Photo ID.
Tuesday, October 31 is the last day a voter can request an absentee by mail ballot. They can request through the online portal or print the form and bring it to the board of elections office by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Lavere said other accessible voting options include curbside voting for voters who are unable to enter the voting enclosure due to age or disability and our Accessible Ballot Marking device for voters who are blind, visually impaired or have dexterity issues. Both are available during early voting and at all voting precincts on Election Day. Here’s a video on the Ballot Marking Device.
