Lawn care crew says police called because of their races

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina lawn care company believes police were called to their team because it had three African American and one Hispanic worker.

News outlets report Hope Lawn Care was headed for a job in the northern part of Winston-Salem on Wednesday when they said a woman observing them as she drove by was on a cellphone.

A Winston-Salem police officer arrived and told the workers someone called about “suspicious activity,” but it was determined the situation was not a police matter and the officer left.
