Local businesses express how the snow has affected business

BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY)–It’s not just cars that are going through a hassle with the snow; businesses are too. Many businesses had to close due to weather and bad road conditions Wednesday, but Thursday, there are slow signs of reopening.

Joshua Boggess is the owner of Falcone’s Italian Restaurant in Leland and says downtime for the restaurant has put a big dent in business.
He closed the restaurant Tuesday and partially opened it Wednesday because icy roads prevented his employees from coming to work.
Thursday, he was also partially open and was only selling pizza. He says he only received 10 orders Wednesday and got even less today.

“For the most part, we stay busy enough that when there is a little bit of downtime it’s somewhat of a relief at times. I’m able to get caught up on stuff. I mean, of course, I much rather have people here in the seats all day long,” Boggess said.

Boggess says he has also heard about similar struggles from other local businesses. He adds, don’t be discouraged. The weather will warm up, and customers will start coming back.
