‘Love on the Spectrum’ star Tanner Smith brings joy to Wilmington at ‘Miracle Meet-Up’
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — On Saturday a local non-profit held Tanner’s Miracle Meet-Up at the Miracle Field of Wilmington in Olsen Park.
ACCESS of Wilmington hosted Tanner Smith, from the Netflix show Love on the Spectrum which follows people with autism as they explore the dating world.
At the event there was music, dancing and games for all to enjoy.
Also, a Q&A session where Smith and his mom answered questions from the community.
Mark McGrew with ACCESS of Wilmington and Smith met at Clemson University and have inspired each other ever since.
“So, to have him be a role model in the disability community and to come here and basically meet others exactly where they’re at. Just honestly bringing some energy and joy like he does, that’s his mission. It’s just been a dream come true,” McGrew shared.
“It’s been good me getting pictures with people and I liked it when they got pictures with me,” Smith said.
Smith added this is his first time in Wilmington and he is looking forward to coming back in November for McGrew’s wedding.
The Wilmington Sharks were also at the event and gifted Smith a jersey.
