WASHINGTON, D.C (WWAY) — The NC State Wolfpack are your 2024 ACC Champions after defeating UNC 84-76.
NC State came into the tournament as the #10 seed, playing in their 5th straight game against #1 seed North Carolina on Saturday. The Wolfpack needed to win the ACC Championship just to even get into the NCAA Tournament. With 29 points from DJ Horne and 20 from DJ Burns Jr, the NC State Wolfpack defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels 84 to 76 in Washington, D.C.
This is NC State’s first ACC Championship since 1987. Former UNCW basketball head coach Kevin Keatts certainly was happy with his teams victory, as this win means just a bit more for him. Keatts received a two-year contract extension, which runs through 2030. Keatts is set to receive more than $5.5 million from this win through out the remainder of his contract.
The Wolfpack are the #11 seed in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament where they will play #6 seed Texas Tech on Thursday, March 21st.
