New Hanover County Fire Rescue is raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Fire Rescue is raising money through their annual “Fill the Boot” campaign to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This campaign has been in place for over 15 years as a different way to give back to the community.
After raising more than $30,000 last year they are hoping to raise more this year.
The New Hanover County Fire Rescue captain Benjamin Bobzien says the fire service have been partnered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and they are happy to help.
“It is something that the fire service loves to do, it’s a great organization. So, if you are willing to donate, we would love to have you donate to the cause. Ultimately, we want to say thank you to those who have donated. We were having a great time talking to our citizens out here,” Bobzien said.
Bobzien adds they are still responding to calls so if you miss them just to circle back later. There is also a QR code on the boot that people can scan to donate.
If you would like to donate, firefighters will be collecting through Wednesday at the following intersections:
- North Kerr Avenue and Castle Hayne Road
- HWY 421 and Isabella Holmes Bridge
- Castle Hayne Road and Holly Shelter Road
- Market Street and Porters Neck Road
- North College Road, Murrayville Road, and Piner Road
- Carolina Beach Road and Halyburton Memorial PKWY
- Carolina Beach Road and Golden Road, 6400 Carolina Beach Road
