Pizza Putt returns to Children’s Museum of Wilmington for one-night fundraising event

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For one night only, the Children’s Museum of Wilmington will transform into an adult playground with mini golf, pizza, and local beer, all in support of the museum’s educational mission.

Pizza Putt, a popular fundraiser that returned last year after a pandemic hiatus, will be held Friday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. The event is open to adults 21 and over.

Chris Utesch, a board member at the museum, described the event as a fun night with a variety of activities.

“We take all the exhibits throughout the museum and convert that into mini golf holes. You kind of play through the playhouse or through the different sensory exhibits,” he said. “There’s plenty of games and activities as well, but basically it takes a facility for children and converts that over to some adults for a good time, for a good cause.”

Utesch emphasized the importance of the event for the museum’s mission.

“About half of our revenue is earned through visits, and the other half is raised. Fundraisers like this help us make sure that everyone can come and experience the Children’s Museum without having to worry about cost,” he said. “This helps us improve learning through arts, literacy, and science, fund updating new exhibits, keeping things clean, and reducing the cost for those that need it.”

The evening will feature pizza from Domino’s, a beer garden with 15 local breweries, and fun competitions for attendees. Tickets are $50 and include limited pizza and beer.

Pizza Putt marks the start of the museum’s 2026 fundraising season, one of four signature events designed to support programming and educational initiatives throughout the year.
