Seahawks soar past Greensboro in exhibition


WILMINGTON, North Carolina (UNCWSports.com) – Senior guard Madison Raque led three UNCW players in double figures with a game-high 18 points as the Seahawks soared past Greensboro College to earn an 81-37 victory in exhibition action at Trask Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

Raque, an honorable mention pick on the Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association Team, shot 6-for-15 from the floor, including 3-of-9 from three-point range, in addition to making three of her four free throws. The Louisville, Ky., product also added eight rebounds and five assists.

Sophomore guard Lacey Suggs added 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field and seven rebounds while sophomore guard Moriah Crisp contributed 12 points with four assists.

Greensboro, which posted a 16-11 record a year ago, was led by sophomore guard Katie Lewis’ nine points while senior forward Kamerin Williams grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.

Key Moment: The Seahawks broke away from Greensboro in the second quarter, outscoring the Pride by a 28-8 margin. UNCW shot a blistering 60.0 percent from the field as senior center Rebekah Banks netted all six of her points in the period.
