CFCC hosts health fair Wednesday

As cold and flu season quickly approaches, Cape Fear Community College will hold its annual Harvest Health, Wellness and Safety Fair on Wednesday at the Schwartz Center in downtown Wilmington from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Riverfest looking for volunteers

Riverfest needs between 150 to 200 volunteers. The organization, which benefits the marine technology program at Cape Fear Community College, also needs chairpersons for all the different events that take place during the weekend.

The Verizon Wireless Wilmington Call Center has established a $2,000 scholarship at Cape Fear Community College for a survivor of domestic violence. The scholarship will cover tuition, textbook expenses and related fees for an individual referred by Wilmington’s Domestic Violence Shelter and Services.

CFCC helps Army Corps relaunch buoy

video A dozen students from Cape Fear Community College are out at sea on the R/V Dan Moore after helping launch a special buoy in the ocean. The college teamed up with the Army Corps of Engineers to deploy a remote sensing buoy, which washed ashore months ago, two miles off of Bald Head Island.
