‘Teacher of the Month’ makes class exciting for students at his alma mater

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — In a surprise ceremony at Topsail Middle School, Mr. Travis Geddie was named the WWAY Teacher of the Month for November.

Mr. Geddie, a teacher of sixth-grade social studies at Topsail Middle School, received the accolade for his engaging teaching style and long-standing commitment to education.

With 24 years in the education sector, Mr. Geddie expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He’s no stranger to the halls he walks through each day.

“Being able to come back to the school that I graduated from and to be able to teach here is the greatest, and I couldn’t ask for anything more,” Mr. Geddie said.

Principal Jake Lawrence commended Mr. Geddie as a champion for students.

“He does anything he can to make sure they don’t fall behind, and that they’re supported in the classroom and at school,” Lawrence said.

The nomination for the WWAY Teacher of the Month came from a parent who appreciated Mr. Geddie’s ability to make the learning experience both enjoyable and memorable.

As Teacher of the Month, Mr. Geddie received a $400 prize from Fulford Heating and Cooling and Beach Bagels and Subs.
