This weekend is prime time for visiting NC mountains to view fall foliage

BOONE, NC (WWAY) — If you’ve been waiting until the perfect time to make the drive up the North Carolina mountains to see the fall foliage, this weekend looks perfect.
According to explorefall.com, the highest elevations near Grandfather Mountain and near Mt. Mitchell are already past their peak.
But all other areas west of Hickory in the mountains, including Boone and Asheville, are seeing high or peak colors.
The Cape Fear is currently seeing low color, but forecasts call for moderate color to begin creeping in during the first week of November.
Peak leaf season in the Cape Fear usually occurs around mid- to late-November.
