UNCW students tour WWAY-TV studio and newsroom
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — About two dozen University of North Carolina Wilmington students stopped by WWAY-TV for a station tour on Tuesday.
News Director Marcy Cuevas spoke with students about the skills students need to hone if they’re interested in a career as a producer or reporter.
These UNCW students are enrolled in WWAY Evening Anchor Jeff Rivenbark’s Multimedia Journalism class this semester.
Matt Bennett, who co-anchors Good Morning Carolina, explained how he got into the field, how stories are stacked in our newscasts and the benefit of interning.
Managing Editor Chris Ruffin, who is a UNCW alumnus, also talked about his role in helping to shape coverage of stories for WWAY newscasts.
The students also toured the studio where Evening Anchor Donna Gregory spoke with them about how she got into the field and why the WWAY staff enjoys bringing viewers in Southeastern North Carolina the important stories of the day.
