WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A Whiteville Police officer went above and beyond to serve her community.

Whiteville Police sergeant Brianna Blanks was on patrol on Bud Stephens Road Saturday when a passerby spotted her cruiser and waved for help.

The woman told Sergeant Blanks that someone had tossed the female puppy from a vehicle. The woman said she tried contacting several shelters, but no one could take the puppy and that she was unable to keep it.

Sergeant Blanks says she took the puppy and went shopping for a collar, leash, and some food. Sergeant Blanks shared her photo on Facebook with a plea for a home that would adopt the pup.

It didn’t take long before she was contacted because one of Sergeant Blanks’ friends ended up taking the puppy.
