Wilmington hits a record-setting 100 degrees
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s a record-setting day in the Port City, but probably not the kind you’ll be excited about.
At 2 p.m. the temperature at Wilmington International Airport was 98 degrees. That broke the old record of 97 set on this date back in 1980, but it would not stay the record very long. At 4:41 p.m., the National Weather Service said the temperature at ILM reached 100.
The highest temperature ever recorded in Wilmington happens to be in the month of June is 104. That occurred twice on June 27 and 30 way back in 1952.
