Wilmington Voices hosting free concerts to share love during divisive time
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington vocal group is hosting two free concerts at the end of September to share peace and love during a divisive time ahead of the presidential election.
The Wilmington Voices was New Hanover County’s first premiere, professional vocal ensemble.
This concert series called “Music for a Scared Space” is happening on Sept 21, 7:30pm at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church
1416 Market Street. The second concert will be on Sept 22, 4pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 16 North 16th Street.
Angela Burns is the founder and artistic director of Wilmington Voices. She said you will hear a range of songs and genres at the free concerts.
According to the website, it will be an evening of choral music that is not only a celebration of artistic excellence, but also a testament to the enduring power of music. They aim to create a sense of peace and reverence in the hallowed confines of a sacred sanctuary, transcending boundaries and uniting hearts in a shared journey through sublime music.
All concerts are free and open to the public.
Burns said they are also looking for more professional singers to join the group and will be paid. Wilmington Voices are also preparing for their holiday concerts coming up in December.
