WWAY Student Athlete of the Week: Madelynne Gedman
BOILING SPRING LAKES (WWAY) — Academics, creating art, and being a leader are just some of the qualities our WWAY Student Athlete of the Week displays.
Madelynne Gedman has been a goal keeper for South Brunswick’s Varsity Girls Soccer team for the past four seasons. On the pitch, she has multiple saves and shut-outs so far this season. She is also an award winning artist with some of her pieces winning multiple competitions, including the Franklin Square Art Gallery’s High School Art Show. Gedman has also served as the president of the Family Career Community Leaders of America, which helps make a difference in personal work and societal issues through education.
When it comes to balancing school, athletics, family and everything else, Gedman said its important to always try your hardest.
“To just try hard, like things might seem overwhelming doing it, balancing work and soccer and my club is a lot. But, as long as you trust in your ability that you can get it done and you stay motivated, you can do it, so just believe in yourself.”
Gedman is set to complete her Associate’s Degree in science this summer at Brunswick Community College and is going to UNC Chapel Hill in the Fall to study Pre-Med.
