WWAY Student Athlete of the Week: Sophie Williamson
ROCKY POINT (WWAY) — Competitiveness, academics, and leadership on and off the field is what WWAY Student Athlete of the Week Sophie Williamson brings to the table.
Heide Trask High School Sophomore Sophie Williamson plays varsity volleyball and does track and field. While playing multiple sports, she maintains a 4.2 GPA and takes advanced placement classes. Williamson is also her student body vice-president, while also participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Williamson also devotes time helping with the Special Olympics.
With so much on her plate, Williamson said its important to remember that no one is perfect, and to simply do the best you can.
“Something that I’ve really worked on is giving myself some grace. Knowing that you’re not always going to be perfect at everything that you do, but still competing and showing up every day for your team, for yourself. Finding kind of the balance of academics and school, and then extra circulars and sports is really important to make sure you don’t burn yourself out of anything. so, i think just understanding the perfection is just so impossible.”
In college, Williamson plans to study orthopedic health. If you would like to nominate someone for Student Athlete of the Week, you can do so here.
