Brunswick County assessing pest problem post-storm

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Now that the storm’s cleared and waters recede, officials are looking at the effects of at least 18 inches of rain. One post-storm woe — mosquitoes.

County spokeswoman Amanda Hutcheson said the county’s Mosquito Control staff are out in the area assessing mosquito populations in different areas. She said they’re also looking at the types of mosquitoes in the area and identifying areas that need to be sprayed. Crews are also working with town leaders to see pest problem areas.

Hutcheson said they hope to have a plan of action by the end of this week or early next week. Anyone with an increased problem can contact the county or municipality.
