Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

Credit card fees cutting into small businesses

Credit card companies can no longer increase interest rates for responsible consumers, but they have increased fees for small businesses. At 17th Street Deli in Downtown Wilmington credit card companies increased the fee on each transaction by half a percent. Just to swipe the card costs at least 12 cents for a credit card and 25 cents for a debit card.

We spoke with District Attorney Ben David today. He didn't want to comment on camera, but he said he will look into the claims. That's not to say the commissioners did anything wrong, but David says there is a law that county employees cannot use a public server for political use.
