Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

UNCW students discuss healthcare reform

The healthcare debate came to UNCW Friday. The College Republicans sponsored “Hands Off my Healthcare”. Speakers, including radio host Curtis Wright, talked about details of the proposed healthcare reform.

Many hit the jackpot at Wilson's Restaurant

Bidders showed up at Wilson’s Restaurant with hopes of hitting the jackpot Friday. The Wilmington landmark closed almost a year ago, but Friday an auctioneer soled off arcade games and pinball machines one by one.

Bettie Fennell to run for North Carolina Senate

Republican Bettie Fennell is throwing her hat back in the ring for the North Carolina Senate. Last year Fennell and Senator RC Soles ran a heated race for the 8th district seat, representing Pender, Brunswick and Columbus counties.
