Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

Influenza business forum held

Health officials warn the H1N1 flu virus may spike again in our area. On Thursday, officials from the NHC Health Department hosted an influenza business forum to educate area professionals on how to cut down on the spread of flu in the workplace.

Carolina Beach not getting the sand it needs

The town of Carolina Beach has a federal project to re-nourish their beach every three years. Initially, the strand of the beach from north end all the way to the lake would be re-nourished, but the town will only receive half of the sand they had expected due to a lack of funding.

YMCA to head up Pender after school programs

Working parents in Pender County can now leave their kids in the hands of the YMCA. The Wilmington’s Family YMCA is now heading up Pender County's after school programs after coming in as the low bidder for the district.
