Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

Oak Island Pier opens Monday

A familiar Brunswick County fishing spot is reopening with a new name Monday. The Yaupon Pier will now be known as the Oak Island Pier.

Wave bus turns into fireball

Four passengers and a Wave Transit bus driver are safe after the bus caught on fire around 6:30 Saturday night near Market and Wayne streets in Wilmington.

UNCW grads enter the real world

Another round of college graduates entered the real world Saturday, as it was day two for graduation ceremonies at UNCW. Family and friends gathered in Trask Coliseum during two processions for the College of Arts and Sciences.

Goodness grows in Columbus County

Saturday marked the opening day for the Columbus County Farmers’ Market. Opening ceremonies included a performance by the Edgewood Elementary School chorus.
