BLADEN COUNTY (WWAY) — As Tropical Storm Debby bears down on the Cape Fear, a flash flood emergency was issued for the Town of Bladenboro early Thursday morning.

According to the North Carolina Emergency Manager, water intrusion into homes and businesses has been reported across Bladenboro. Between two to three feet of standing water was also reported, with some spots seeing even higher water levels. One swift water rescue was performed and that person was taken to a shelter, according to the Bladenboro Fire Department.

The Bladenboro Fire Department says all roads into the town are blocked off due to the flooding, and people are being asked to stay off the roads at this time. A curfew went into effect at 11 p.m. Wednesday.

For non-emergency storm related events (downed trees, downed power lines, flooded roadways) the Emergency Operations Center can be contacted at (910) 862-7810 or (910) 862-7831.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
