‘Very large’ puppy rescued from 40-foot well in North Carolina

WAKE COUNTY, NC (CBS) — A “very large” puppy named Mudge was rescued from a well in Wake County, North Carolina, on Saturday, December 2, local rescue services said.
Mudge, a Great Dane puppy, had fallen into an old 40-foot well off Old South Road and had to be hoisted up, local media reported.
The 110-pound pup was hoisted out of the well by attaching a rope to a harness.
Though a veterinarian neighbor was on standby, Mudge emerged mostly unscathed with only a scratch on her ankle, according to reports.
