Home Depot may be the latest retailer to suffer a major credit card data breach.

The Atlanta-based home improvement retailer told The Associated Press Tuesday that it is working with both banks and law enforcement to investigate “unusual activity” that would point to a hack.

Fantasy football fever in Wilmington; drafts are over, season starts on Thursday

In fact, bars in the Port City that typically don’t cater to the sports crowd, are starting to cater to fantasy football players for draft night. After all, the start of the NFL regular season is just two nights away.

Breweries officially ‘on tap’ for Wilmington

Wilmington City Council voted on a final approval for breweries in the Port City Tuesday night. The change allows small local breweries to open up in areas already zoned for restaurants.

NC Supreme Court rejects emergency voucher release

The N.C. Supreme Court has rejected a request for the emergency release of voucher funds during their appeal of a court decision that declared the program unconstitutional.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports the court offered little explanation for the Tuesday’s decision.

Another American in Liberia contracts Ebola

A missionary group says another American doctor has contracted the Ebola virus while working at a hospital in Liberia.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Serving In Mission said the unnamed doctor had been treating women in the obstetrics ward of a hospital in the Liberian capital.

McCrory praises eastern NC natural gas pipeline

Gov. Pat McCrory says a proposed natural gas pipeline traveling through eastern North Carolina will serve as a tool to attract more jobs and industries to the state.

McCrory visited Pembroke on Tuesday to highlight the announced construction of a 550-mile pipeline from West Virginia through Virginia and North Carolina, ending at current Piedmont Natural Gas facilities in Robeson County.

Kinston police say death of 1-month-old a homicide

Police in Kinston say the February death of a 1-month-old boy was homicide.

Area media outlets reports the Kinston Department of Public Safety says in a statement that police responded to a residence on Feb. 18 regarding the death of Caden Williams.

Hickory teen dies in wreck, driver charged

A Hickory teen has died in a wreck and another teen has been charged with driving while impaired.

Local media outlets reported that 17-year-old Jay Robertson died in the wreck Sunday evening. The 17-year-old who was driving the car also has been charged with felony death by motor vehicle.
