Freshman midfielder Kalvin Kromer and junior midfielder Daniel Escobar each scored a goal in the second half to lead UNCW to a 2-0 victory over Bucknell University in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Thursday evening. Wilmington's Kadeem Allen was ready to play in the national spotlight. but he's going to have to wait another twelve months to suit up for coach Sean Miller and the Arizona Wildcats. Allen attended high school at Laney for three years, but he graduated from New Hanover High in 2012 after just one season in a Wildcat uniform. It was quite a season though. He led New Hanover to the 4-A basketball state title in 2012. Full story...

The NC State-Syracuse affair was a game of firsts for head football coach Dave Doeren and redshirt freshman Pharoah McKever. Doeren earned his first ACC victory as the Wolfpack head coach. McKever, a graduate of South Columbus High, returned an interception for a touchdown. It was McKever's first collegiate interception and his first Wolfpack touchdown as well. Full story...

Nationally ranked East Carolina got off to an impressive start against Connecticut on Thursday night, but the Pirates had to hold on for a 31-21 victory. The football game was actually tied going into the 4th quarter. Former New Hanover Wildcat football standout Trevon Brown hurt his knee in the first half. Full story...

Former South Columbus Stallion football standout Ethan Farmer says the UNC Tar Heel defense is getting better. Farmer and the Tar Heels host Georgia Tech on Saturday. NC State head coach Dave Doeren has announced that a number of student-athletes will be suspended from Saturday's upcoming football showdown against Louisville, following a game with BB guns at their off-campus residence last week. When top ranked Florida State visits Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday it will mark the first time the nation’s No. 1 team will play on the Wolfpack’s home field. Over the weekend we got caught in the middle of an incredible pass attempt at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh. The bizarre play featured a wall, a stair railing, a handful of dance team members from NC State, a former New Bern football standout who plays for the Wolfpack and a former South Columbus quarterback who nearly caught a pass while sitting in the stands. Wilmington's Trevon Brown made the most of his first collegiate start over the weekend in Greenville. The former New Hanover football standout caught two touchdown passes in East Carolina's 70-41 impressive victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels.
