Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

NC gas prices lower again last week

Average retail gasoline prices in North Carolina have fallen 3.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.58/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.70/g, according to gasoline price website NorthCarolinaGasPrices.com.

McIntyre, Pantano agree to three debates

Two years ago Rep. Mike McIntyre refused to debate his Republican challenger Will Breazeale. This time around, the Lumberton Democrat will face off three times with Ilario Pantano, his Republican foe for the 7th district seat in in the US House.

Plane crashes near Ashley High School

A small plane crashed Sunday morning in the parking lot of Veteran's Park near Ashley High School in New Hanover County. The pilot, 72-year-old Ted G. Stone, suffered a broken leg and several lacerations and was rushed to the hospital from the scene.

Coastal conference arrives in Wilmington

More than 300 coastal managers, scientists and policy makers will gather at the Hilton in Wilmington through Wednesday. They will discuss issues facing our coasts including erosion, the current oil spill disaster, proposed wind farm projects and sea level rise.

First Stormfest a huge success

Even though the weather was sunny, it was a stormy day inside the Cape Fear Museum on Saturday for the first ever "Stormfest". Over two 2,700 weather enthusiasts packed the museum to learn more about the weather and get ready for the 2010 Hurricane Season.
