Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

Picketers back for day two

Picketers outside New Hanover Regional Medical Center, determined to raise awareness about the need for more local midwives, were present for a second day on Tuesday.

Biker traveling cross country to fight cancer

Craig Broeder has been biking cross country since April. He passed through the Port City Tuesday on his way to Myrtle Beach. His goal: biking 9,000 miles in 100 days to get one million people to donate a dollar for ovarian cancer research.

Former Calabash town administrator arrested

The former Calabash town administrator was arrested Tuesday morning. Thirty year old Jeremy Cribb was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses and four counts of embezzlement by a public official.

Local coaches get together for jamboree luncheon

The Wilmington Elks Club hosted the 23rd Annual BB&T Football Jamboree Kickoff luncheon Tuesday. Coaches from the ten teams participating in Friday's football jamboree were on hand, as was retiring New Hanover County athletic director Joe Miller.
