Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

Probation violation a growing trend

videoOur jails are more crowded than ever. To combat that, judges often give out probation instead of jail time, but with a limited number of probation officers to manage them, the number of people violating the terms of their probation has gone sky high.

Wet roads cause slick driving conditions

The wet roads caused some problems for drivers today. Police said 19-year-old Bianca Justafort of Rocky Point hydroplaned while traveling on Martin Luther King Parkway in Wilmington. Her Jaguar spun around and landed in a ditch.

Codington students learn about influential Americans

Can you name at least five influential people who shaped our country? Well, some students at Codington Elementary School can name three times that amount. For the past nine weeks, Codington's first graders have been learning about famous Americans who helped shape our country.
