Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

Bridge repairs start today

If you travel across the Cape Fear River between New Hanover and Brunswick Counties, your trip may be getting tougher. Repairs on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge are scheduled to start today.

Bus vandalism delays some schools

Vandalism caused several New Hanover County schools to start two hours late today. School officials found out around 6 a.m. that more than 50 school buses had a tire flattened. The buses were all parked in a lot at Laney High School.

One dead after boat capsizes

Memorial Day is known as the unofficial start to summer. And this summer is officially off to a deadly start after a boat capsized in the water off Figure Eight Island last night. Of the two people who were in the boat, only one was able to swim to shore. It is believed that the 22-foot center console boat capsized around 6 p.m. in Rich Inlet.

Remembering Veterans on Memorial Day

The only sound you could hear at the Wilmington National Cemetery was the American flag blowing in the wind. Some visit their loved ones all the time, but find its harder to visit on Memorial Day.
