Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

Big Sweep waterway cleanup needs volunteers

Join hundreds of volunteers throughout New Hanover County on Saturday, Sept. 29 for Big Sweep, an annual cleanup of our waterways. The event will be held at 9 a.m. at Johnnie Mercer's Pier at Wrightsville Beach and the boathouse at Greenfield Lake.

Airlie Gardens to host a fall kayak 'eco-tour'

Airlie Gardens' Environmental Education Program hosts a fall kayak 'eco-tour' Sunday, September 30th, from 10am-12pm. The tour themed "A Creek Comes Alive", will guide novice or seasoned paddlers through Bradley Creek and focuses on the flora, fauna, and ecosystem of Bradley Creek along with discussions concerning coastal environmental issues.

8th-grader questions Edwards on Iraq

An eighth-grade student in New Hampshire picked up today where Tim Russert left off last night, asking Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards about Iraq.
