Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Brunswick County School Board wants to raise dropout age

How old should a teenager be before he is allowed to drop out of school? Tuesday night the school board voted unanimously to support new legislation that would raise the dropout age. A bill in the general assembly would increase the dropout age from 16 to 18. Officials in Brunswick County hope it will keep kids in school.

Firefighters denied pay increase

A sea of yellow shirts greeted Wilmington City Council members at their meeting last night. Dozens of firefighters turned out, asking the city council to raise their salaries in the new budget. Firefighters, their families and friends walked to Tuesday's City Council meeting, all wearing yellow T-shirts showing solidarity.
