On Wednesday it seemed like every team from our region won in the state playoffs. The New Hanover boys won, Whiteville boys, West Brunswick boys, Trask boys, East Bladen girls, East Columbus girls, Ashley girls and Laney girls all won. All of those teams will advance to the third round on Friday. The home schedule is now complete for the UNCW men's basketball team. Jay Ross will be named the head football coach of the Wilmington Tigers on Friday. Round two of the high school basketball state playoffs will tip off on Wednesday. That'll also be "Senior Night" at UNCW for basketball. The CAA Swim Championship begins Wednesday too. Plus more! Full story...

The New Hanover boys basketball team got off to a slow start on Monday in the first round of the state playoffs, but the Wildcats ended up sending Ashley packing. We had highlights from nine different games on Monday! We had video from Shallotte, Jacksonville, Wilmington, Lake Waccamaw, Whiteville and Rocky Point. It was a "Wildcat" type of night in basketball in the Mideastern Conference. Both the New Hanover boys and girls won tournament titles on Friday. In the Four County Conference East Bladen captured the girls title. Clinton won the boys title. We had highlights and post-game reaction from all four games on the Full Court Press. Check it out. It was a "Wildcat" type of night for former New Hanover swimmer Cari Blalock. Blalock won an event at the ACC Swimming & Diving Championship on Friday. Plus more! Full story...

Conference tournament play is winding down all around the region. On Thursday we had highlights from the East Central Conference, Four County Conference and Mideastern Conference. The losing skid for the UNCW women's basketball continues. North Carolina came from behind to beat Duke in men's college hoops. Wednesday was a full night for boys high school hoops on WWAY. We had tournament coverage from the Four County Conference and the Mideastern Conference. On top of that we started speculating about the replacement for South Columbus football coach Jake Fonvielle. He turned in his resignation on Wednesday morning. Full story...

Monday marked the first day of tournament play in the Mideastern Conference for high school basketball. We had game highlights from all three first round games. We also made a stop in Bladen County to check out the showdown between East Bladen and West Bladen. UNCW ran into a hot shooting William & Mary squad on Monday night. Friday's Full Court Press featured a victory by Hoggard against West Brunswick in a battle for second place in the Mideastern Conference. We had basketball coverage from Ashley-Laney. Both games in Buctown came down to the wire. We checked out New Hanover-South Brunswick, Trask-Clinton & Pender-Wallace-Rose Hill. We even sneaked in college action too! We showcased UNCW-JMU in women's hoops and UNCW-VMI in college baseball. Full story...
