Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

UNCW nursing students host health fair

Dozens of UNCW nursing students hosted a health fair at the Martin Luther King Community Center. The fair was geared towards helping seniors age healthy. The fair offered activities, demonstrations and health screenings.

Wilmington business hit with layoffs

There are more layoffs for another local business. The Terex Crane Company announced layoffs for about 30 workers at their Wilmington location off of Carolina Beach Road.

Malfunction leads to Brunswick County power outage

About 40,000 Brunswick Electric customers were without power for a few hours today. The company was working with Progress Energy to make upgrades to a transmission line early this morning, when a piece of equipment malfunctioned.

Woman dies after being hit by car last week

Thirty-five-year old Nicole Harrison was struck in the 7400 block of Market Street in Ogden the night of February 23. She had been in the intensive care unit at Chapel Hill and died yesterday afternoon.
