Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

NC Big Sweep statewide cleanup

North Carolina Big Sweep coordinated the Nation's first statewide cleanup. Every year, all 100 counties in NC are committed to teaching their volunteer's how litter hurts our economy, harms wildlife, and is a human health hazard.

More areas increase water restrictions

The state's two largest cities implemented mandatory water restrictions today. The moves by Charlotte and Raleigh come a day after Greensboro put mandatory restrictions into effect because of the continuing drought.

25 immigrants charged with identity theft

A federal prosecutor says current and former employees at the huge Smithfield Foods slaughterhouse in Bladen County face identity theft charges as well as immigration violations after raids last week.
