Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.

Fire kills seven in Ocean Isle Beach

It only took four minutes for fire crews to respond to the 911 call about a fire at a house on Scotland Street in Ocean Isle Beach, but in those four minutes, the house had already become fully engulfed.

The recent rainfall in our area has barely made a dent in our rainfall deficit and local farmers continue to be challenged by the extremely dry conditions.

Lil Wayne concert costs Sheriff's Department $65,000

New Hanover County Sheriff Sid Causey says his department spent close to $65,000 to patrol New Hanover High's Brogden Hall last Sunday night. There was concern among some parents and school administrators the concert could provoke violence. The Department says it had 148 deputies working the event that was projected to have 4,600 attendees.
