Cameron Art Museum announces winter programs

The Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington is kicking off the new year with a huge list of programming for children and adults.  The events include Martin Luther King holiday programming for kids, homeschooling help, painting classes, readings, yoga, and the return of Jazz@cam.

Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear looks to a world in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.  It is celebrating 25 years of providing case management, transitional housing, and emergency shelter to families in need.  The 25th Anniversary Celebration Low Country Boil has a happy hour, dinner, and entertainment from comedian Orlando Jones.  

New Hanover County could receive grant to help fight gangs

videoThere are 400 gangs with more than 5,000 members in North Carolina. That's according to the state's Gangnet database. New Hanover County law enforcement agencies are working towards tackling the issue locally. The Wilmington Police Department and the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office are applying together for a grant to help fight gang violence.

Bush tours California wildfire damage

President Bush toured the damage caused by the California wildfires Thursday. Federal and local authorities have also indicated that some of the wildfires were caused by arson.
