Brett Blizzard is back in Italy playing pro basketball after a one year hiatus. His team is off to a 2-0 start after a two point victory on the road against one of the pre-season favorites in the Italian 2 League.

Brett Blizzard not only started the game, but he started the season off on the right foot on Sunday in Italy. His Bologna team won their regular season opener 96-83.

Chad Tomko and Ahmad Grant didn't just get superb help on Wednesday night. The former UNCW Seahawk got help from a Super Bowl champion. In fact Green Bay defensive lineman Jay Ross did more than hold his own in the title game of the Blizzard adult basketball league on Wednesday.

Bruce Pearl is no longer the men's basketball coach at Tennessee. He was fired on Monday despite six consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament. Tennessee is currently under investigation by the NCAA for numerous violations. Former UNCW forward John Fields just completed his senior season at Tennessee.

Eddie Biedenbach used to be a permanent resident at Wrightsville Beach. The UNC Asheville head basketball coach occasionally pops in for a coastal visit during the off season. Brad Brownell used to call Wilmington home. Brownell now coaches Clemson. Interestingly enough, UNC Asheville and Clemson were the only two winning teams on Tuesday night in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

UNCW's dream of making it to the Women's NCAA Tournament ended on Saturday with a 15 point setback against the Delaware Blue Hens. Cynthia Cooper Dyke's team simply got outplayed on a day the ball didn't want to go in the basket.
