UNCW's dream of making it to the Women's NCAA Tournament ended on Saturday with a 15 point setback against the Delaware Blue Hens. Cynthia Cooper Dyke's team simply got outplayed on a day the ball didn't want to go in the basket.

The Seahawks broke open a close game midway through the second half on Friday night to beat Drexel by 12 points at the CAA Women's Basketball Tournament. We'll be showing UNCW's next game live on RTV 3.2 on Saturday afternoon.

Former UNCW women's basketball guard Sheila Boles will be inducted into the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame in May. Before that she's going to be a CAA Legend. Boles will receive that honor on Wednesday night at the CAA Women's Basketball Championship in Maryland.

On senior day at Trask Coliseum the Seahawks rolled over the George Mason Patriots on Sunday with a 18 point victory. UNCW will conclude their CAA regular season schedule on Wednesday on the road against first place James Madison. A win on Wednesday for UNCW would give the team an historical share of the conference crown.

The UNC Wilmington men's basketball team didn't end the regular season on a good note. The lost to Hofstra on Wednesday at home. On Saturday they lost to Northeastern in Boston.

Cynthia Cooper-Dyke's team now has 21 victories. It's hard to believe, but the women's basketball program at UNCW has become significant in less than one full season. It used to be a program that flew below the radar, but that's not the case any more. The team has two more regular season games remaining. If the Seahawks win the CAA Tournament in March they'll earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Cynthia Cooper Dyke's team led from start to finish against Northeastern on Sunday afternoon at Trask Coliseum. The Seahawks are now assured of a first round bye in the conference tournament in March.
