The Old Dominion women's basketball team had beaten UNCW 42 times in a row until Sunday afternoon. Cynthia Cooper-Dyke's team beat ODU on the road on Sunday. Buzz Peterson's UNCW men's basketball team also picked up a road win this weekend. Full story...

On Thursday night WWAY went to Durham in order to check out Wake Forest center Ty Walker. Buzz Peterson was not allowed to coach the UNCW Seahawks on Wednesday night due to a one game suspension. With associate coach Jamie Kachmarik calling the shots the Seahawks were not able to mount a successful comeback against James Madison. The Dukes beat UNCW 69-61. Buzz Peterson was ejected from the UNCW-Drexel basketball game on Saturday night after receiving his second technical of the night. This is only the second career ejection for Buzz Peterson. His first occurred during his tenure at Tennessee on the road against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Due to a CAA rule Buzz Peterson will not be allowed to coach in UNCW's next game. On Thursday night we featured basketball highlights from UNCW's loss to Georgia State in Atlanta. GSU beat UNCW 75-61. The loss snapped the Seahawks four game winning streak. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons lost on Wednesday night, but Wilmington's Ty Walker had one of the best games of his career despite the loss. The UNC Wilmington men's basketball team defeated Northeastern on Wednesday night in Boston. Buzz Peterson's team is now 2-1 in the CAA. Brunswick Community College had a lead on Wednesday, but unlike the Seahawks the Dolphins were not able to hold onto their advantage against Pitt Community College. Full story...

The UNCW men's basketball team is undefeated in 2012. The Seahawks defeated Delaware on Monday afternoon on a rare afternoon matinee at Trask Coliseum. The UNCW women's basketball team also won on Monday. The Seahawks beat NC A&T. Full story...

On Thursday night on WWAY we featured the championship game of the girls holiday high school basketball tournament at Laney High School. Undefeated Laney hosted Ashley, but the Bucs didn't capture the title. It went to the Screaming Eagles instead. The UNCW Seahawks returned home Monday night. They trailed most of the game and only held one lead in the second half, but that was when the final buzzer sounded. A last second tip-in lifted the Hawks to their third win in their last four outings. Full story...

UNCW committed a season high 28 turnovers on Saturday night against VCU. The Seahawks couldn't handle the pressure from the Rams. In high school hoops Ashley survived the pressure of a competitive game on the road against South View.
